STEAM PACKET COMPANY BRINGS WRITER AND BROADCASTER ANDREW WHITE TO MANX LITFEST 2016

20/9/2016

The Steam Packet Company is teaming up with Manx Litfest to bring writer, filmmaker and broadcaster Andrew White to the Island for this year’s festival.

Andrew, who is from Yorkshire, created Walks Around Britain, a TV series that premiered on the Community Channel earlier this year and has now been syndicated to 16 local TV stations.

While he’s in the Island for Manx Litfest, Andrew will be filming a piece about the Isle of Man for the second series of Walks Around Britain.

Manx Litfest 2016 takes place from Tuesday, September 27 until Sunday, October 2, with a wide range of events at various venues around the Island. A full schedule is available at www.manxlitfest.com/book-tickets.

Festival Director John Quirk said: ‘Andrew writes, makes film about and broadcasts on a wide range of topics, including heritage, transport, and travel, but his main passion is walking. He wrote the AA Guide to Yorkshire and regularly writes for leading magazines, such as BBC Countryfile, and appears on local BBC radio stations, in addition to writing and presenting Walks Around Britain.

‘On the Saturday of Litfest, October 1, Andrew will give a talk about Walks Around Britain, with short films about his favourite places, and also lead a “walk & talk” around Glen Mooar and Glen Wyllin. The Litfest team would like to thank the Steam Packet Company for supporting Andrew’s visit to the Island and we hope local walkers and outdoor enthusiasts enjoy his events.’

Andrew’s Walk & Talk is from 11.00am-1.00pm (October 1), meeting outside the campsite shop at Glen Wyllin. Tickets are £5 and places can be reserved by emailing [email protected]

His Walks Around Britain talk takes place at 4.00pm the same day at the Market Hall, North Quay, Douglas. Tickets are £4 and available from villagaiety.ticketsolve.com or by calling the Villa Gaiety box office on 600555.

Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Chief Executive Mark Woodward said: ‘Now in its fifth year, Manx Litfest, a registered charity, continues to grow each year and we are pleased to once again be able to offer our support. Each year the Steam Packet Company invests a significant amount of money in marketing and promoting the Isle of Man to help attract visitors, so it’s exciting to see that Andrew will be filming a piece about the Island for the new series of Walks Around Britain.’
