Travelling to the Isle of Man: ETA Requirements

An electronic travel authorisation (ETA) lets you travel to the UK, Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man for up to 6 months.

Non visa national, including citizens of the United States, Canada, and all European Union countries, will need an ETA to visit the Isle of Man for stays of up to six months. This requirement applies to all travellers, including infants and children.

A British or Irish citizen (Passengers must travel using a British or Irish passport (an Isle of Man passport is a British passport). A resident of the Republic of Ireland When travelling from within the CTA (Ireland, the UK, Jersey or Guernsey). A valid visa holder. If they already have permission to live, work or study within the CTA. A settled or pre settled status holder. Under the EU Settlement Scheme.

We are legally required to confirm that passengers hold a valid ETA before boarding. If their ETA is not approved and digitally linked to their passport, they will not be permitted to travel.

Applying for an ETA is simple and fully digital, no paperwork or embassy visits required. You can apply for an ETA in the following ways: Via the UK ETA app, apply via the official GOV.UK website. They cost £20 per person. Most applications are approved within minutes, but we recommend applying at least three working days before travel.

ETAs are recognised across the Isle of Man, UK, Jersey and Guernsey. If passengers are travelling via the UK, such as flying into London before continuing to Douglas, they will only need one ETA for their entire journey.

If passengers are a US or European citizen arriving in Ireland and continuing to the Isle of Man by ferry or air, an ETA is still required. Although routine passport checks do not take place on this route, ETA rules continue to apply.
