Travelling with children

Travelling by ferry is one of the most exciting and convenient ways to travel with children, it really is all part of the fun. Here are some helpful FAQs to ensure everyone gets the most out of their journey with us.

Any passenger under the age of sixteen must be accompanied by an adult. Passengers aged between 0 and three years of age (inclusive) are classed as infants. All children (0-15) sail for free on the Isle of Man Steam Packet. Passengers 16 years and older pay adult fares.

We welcome pregnant passengers but please note there are no trained medical professionals on our crews. Therefore we strongly recommend passengers should be fewer than 32 weeks pregnant at the time of their sailing, and subject to them not having received medical advice not to travel.

Manxman has a dedicated quiet room located on the starboard (right) side of the vessel close to the shop and family area. This room also has babychanging facilities. Please enquire at the info desk for anything else you may need.

Passenger safety is our top priority and this policy ensures the safety and comfort of the group, fellow passengers and our crew whilst travelling on our vessels. The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company defines a group as more than 8 people travelling together on one ticket. Groups of more than eight passengers must be booked via the Reservations Team either via email or telephone. Groups including children (0-15 years) must adhere to the following ratios of adults to children: Up to 16 Children, 2 Adults. Above 16 children one additional adult for every eight children. Maximum group size for one booking: 60 children. It is a mandatory requirement for a group to complete and return a copy of the ‘Group Children’s Conditions of Carriage’.
