Isle of Man to be promoted during National Ferry Fortnight 2018

16/4/2018

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company is joining other leading ferry operators to encourage more people to rediscover the joy of travelling by sea and has teamed up with Manx National Heritage to create a special National Ferry Fortnight offer to give explorers the opportunity to discover the Isle of Man.

National Ferry Fortnight is run by Discover Ferries, the industry body for the ferry sector, to showcase Britain’s extensive ferry routes along with the benefits of travelling by sea. Now in its 10th year, this year’s National Ferry Fortnight will run from April 14th-28th.

The Steam Packet Company offer* is for a car plus two people from just £90 each way, for any length of stay, with two Manx National Heritage (MNH) Holiday Passes^ - each worth £25 - included in the price.

The National Ferry Fortnight offer must be booked at www.steam-packet.com between April 14th-28th, quoting the special fare code ‘FERRY’.

Island residents can take advantage of the offer to travel to England and Ireland. It is also a great opportunity to encourage friends and family who don’t live on the Isle of Man to visit and discover the island’s unique heritage.

The MNH Holiday Pass provides access to their network of superb heritage sites, including the Viking strongholds of Peel Castle and Castle Rushen, Cregneash, the small village locked in time and the wonder that is the Great Laxey Wheel, the largest working waterwheel in the world.

The theme of this year’s campaign, “take your passion with you”, highlights how easy it is do what you love on holiday when travelling by ferry. Whether that’s cycling, golfing, spending time with your pets or motorbike riding – the beauty of ferry travel is that you can bring everything you need with you. It also gives you the freedom to bring your car and discover the unique beauty of your destination.

Chief Executive Mark Woodward said: ‘We are enormously proud of our special Island and National Ferry Fortnight is a perfect opportunity for us to highlight how easy it is for visitors to explore the natural beauty of the Isle of Man when they travel with us by sea. We hope this year’s offer is just as successful as previous years and encourages plenty more people to discover our Island.

‘We would like to thank MNH for teaming up with us for this fantastic offer and we look forward to welcoming many people in 2018, both regular visitors and first-time explorers.’

Lynsey Clague, Communications Manager for Manx National Heritage, said: ‘Manx National Heritage is delighted to support Isle of Man Steam Packet Company in promoting our beautiful island during National Ferry Fortnight. Travelling by ferry adds to the adventure of exploring, and the Isle of Man has so much to offer to holidaymakers with its stunning scenery and vast array of heritage sites from the ruins of Rushen Abbey to our beautifully thatched cottages, medieval castles and stunning historic homes. From the minute they step off the ferry they will be captured by the allure of our unique and magical island in the heart of the Irish Sea.’
