Work continues across several key areas of Manxman's ongoing repair programme, with various teams progressing both investigation and repair activities to support the vessel's return to service.
This week, specialist teams from Lloyd's Register have been working alongside project teams on site to support the ongoing investigation. Additional monitoring equipment, including pressure sensors and cameras positioned around the propulsion system, have been installed to provide further data and insight. Due to the complexity of the work, careful planning and assessment were required, with specialist attachment points drilled and fitted into the hull to enable the sensors to be securely mounted.
Progress has also been made on the vessel's A-frame and P-frame support structures, which house the bearing carriers, with specialists from Marine Shaft attending site to assist with machining the carriers for the new bearings. Following the completion of precise measurements, specifications were sent to SKF, the bearing manufacturer,
who are producing the replacement bearings. The new component is expected to arrive later this week.
