A glorious feeling is coming your way, thanks to the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company.
It is supporting the island’s 2019 summer musical Singin’ In the Rain, which opened this week at the Gaiety Theatre and runs until 17th August.
Set in Hollywood in the days of the silent screen era, the story focuses on romantic lead Don Lockwood, played by Danny Becker (currently Aladdin’s understudy in Aladdin the Musical on London’s West End).
His sidekick Cosmo Brown is played by the equally talented Josh Barnett, while aspiring actress Kathy Selden is portrayed by the accomplished local performer Laura Pigott, following on from her leading role in last year’s production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
The main cast is rounded off by Lockwood’s leading lady Lina Lamont, who will be brought to life by Lisa Kreisky, another experienced actress who is well-known in the local arts scene.
Among the well-known musical numbers are Make ’em laugh!, All I Do (is dream of you), Moses Supposes, Good Mornin’ and the showstopper, Singin’ in the Rain.
Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has supported the local production company by assisting with the cost of travel for the scenery, props and costumes which have been brought across to the island.
Matt James, producer of Taylorian Productions, said: ‘I would like to offer my sincere thanks to the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company as its generosity, along with our other supporters, has allowed us to bring a show of real quality to the Manx public.
‘Tickets are selling fast and I would encourage anyone hoping to go and watch to get their tickets now. This year we really have pulled out all the stops and the cast and crew are really excited - it is set to be a real showstopper!’
Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Chief Executive, Mark Woodward, said: ‘It sounds like Singin’ in the Rain is a very professional and entertaining show. I wish all the best to the cast and crew.’
