Sailing StatusWith gale force winds forecast for Monday evening, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has revised its sailing schedule to try to ensure continuity of services during one of the busiest periods of the year.
As TT visitors look to head back following the weekend’s motorcycle action, IOMSPC’s Masters and shore staff have been closely watching developing weather forecasts. The forecasted conditions for Monday evening and early on Tuesday morning are very changeable, however, gale force winds are indicated as a strong possibility.
Therefore, to give each sailing the best chance of operating the Company has decided to bring forward the departure time on a number of sailings. The sailings affected include those operated by both Manxman and Manannan, sailing to and from Heysham and Liverpool.
All passengers on affected sailings have been contacted by the Reservations Team using texts and emails.
Whatsapp updates have also been sent out and a weather warning added to the website to inform customers.
Customers expecting to travel to or from the Isle of Man on Monday 2nd should consult the latest sailings page on the website for the most up to date information on timings.
Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Managing Director Brian Thomson commented
‘We appreciate the last thing anyone wants is to have to leave the TT early. However, by making these changes we’re doing our best to ensure as many people get to where they need to go on Monday and Tuesday, but also later in the week. With so many thousands of passengers to transport, we can’t take the risk of gale force winds impacting our sailings and potential cancellations leading to serious knock on effects for those travelling to and from the Island in the week ahead. We really appreciate everyone’s cooperation and patience as we work to ensure the continuity of services in the busiest period of the year.’
