Belfast City MarathonThe Isle of Man Steam Packet Company is providing an update on progress to restore HSC Manannan to full operational speed.
Manannan re-entered service on the Liverpool, Belfast and Dublin routes last week following its routine winter overhaul and maintenance schedule. Unfortunately, a problem was detected with the control systems of one of its four main engines during passage on Saturday.
This mandated a shutdown of that engine for safety purposes.
The vessel’s crew, engineering staff and representatives of the control system manufacturer have been working round the clock to restore full power to the vessel by a process of systematic testing and fault finding.
In the meantime Manannan is safely able to operate on three engines, but will be operating slightly slower than usual, meaning there may be an increase in crossing times until the situation is resolved.
Passengers on any sailings affected will be contacted via text or email to inform them of any changes to plans. Where changes mean passengers are unable to travel on their original bookings, full refunds or amends will be made free of charge.
The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by this situation.
