Ahoy sailors! New safety announcement video on fast craft Manannan

2/4/2019

Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has released a new safety announcement video to be shown to passengers ahead of all sailings on fast craft Manannan.

The Company has worked with local independent company DAM Productions to produce the video, delivering a very important message while engaging with passengers in a light-hearted manner.

Safety videos are an essential requirement for High Speed Crafts in case of an on-board emergency and required to be approved by maritime authorities.

The short film stars Isle of Man resident and Hollywood actor John Rhys-Davies and Steam Packet Company Passenger Services Assistant Karli Seed. In the video they demonstrate the donning of adult and children life jackets, the removal of high heels and the evacuation of the vessel in the unlikely event of an emergency, among other things.

Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Chief Executive Mark Woodward added: ‘We’re very happy with the new video and feel assured the jovial nature of the production will keep the attention of the passengers, so they are aware of safety procedures if an emergency was to occur.

‘We have been pleased with the positive response for the new safety video since Manannan started her seasonal sailings on Friday, and hope future passengers enjoy it too.’
