Isle of Man Steam Packet Company confirms visitor growth in 2017

7/4/2018

Data from the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company shows an increase of 3.4% in visitor ferry passenger figures to the Isle of Man in 2017 compared to 2016.

A rise was recorded on passenger departures originating from Liverpool, Birkenhead, Belfast and Dublin to the Island, with a very small decrease of visitors from Heysham.

Chief Executive Mark Woodward said: ‘We are pleased to confirm that visiting passenger numbers have increased. We have continually invested in promoting the Isle of Man as an attractive holiday destination in the British Isles, and have increased our UK marketing budget every year for more than 20 years, to encourage people to our shores.

‘The Island has so much to offer to visitors and 2017 visitor numbers showed strong growth in car, motorcycle, and coach traffic as well as further growth in special event traffic. These figures are taken from our own booking system showing all inbound passenger journeys rather than a sample.’
