The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company’s commitment as an Employer
The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has a long and close relationship with the armed forces. Many veterans, reservists and family members of veterans and serving personnel have worked for the Company and continue to work for the Company. The Company wishes to recognise and honour this connection and also acknowledge the issues that veterans, reservists and their families can face.

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company seeks to deepen its commitment to supporting armed forces members and their families by creating an environment in which the needs, strengths and role of veterans, serving personnel and their families as an integral part of the community are recognised.
In particular the Company will seek to offer an environment for ex-forces members to find employment, promoting on-the-job training and ensuring there is no disadvantage in the recruitment and selection process.
In addition, the Company will seek to deepen its involvement in the promotion of the Isle of Man’s armed forces community, the Island’s military heritage and to grow its support of the UK’s armed forces, in particular the Royal Navy.

In February 2025 Isle of Man Steam Packet Company were proud to be recognised as a Bronze award holder under the AFC Employer Recognition Scheme.
In order to be rognised an employer must:
- pledge to support the armed forces, including existing or prospective employees who are members of the community
- must have signed the Armed Forces Covenant
- promote being armed forces-friendly and are open to employing reservists, armed forces veterans (including the wounded, injured and sick), cadet instructors and military spouses/partners
