ACU British Enduro Championship Comes to Ramsey

When most people think of motorsport on the Isle of Man, the legendary TT races are often the first to come to mind. But beyond the Mountain Course, the Island also offers a growing calendar of off‑road and enduro events, set against dramatic coastal scenery and open countryside.

One of the Island’s standout off‑road events, the ACU British Enduro Championship brings elite enduro racing to the north of the Island, showcasing some of Britain’s top riders and giving spectators the chance to experience high‑level off‑road motorcycling in a uniquely accessible setting.

A weekend of top‑class enduro action

During the weekend of racing, riders face a demanding course that combines technical terrain, endurance riding and fast‑paced special tests. The event is organised by Ramsey Motorcycle Club and has a distinctly European feel, with racing, rider support and spectator viewing areas woven naturally into the town itself.

Ramsey Courthouse plays a central role across the weekend, anchoring key activity and creating a real sense of occasion as riders and teams gather. The build‑up begins with sign‑on and technical inspection, where bikes are prepared and placed into parc fermé, setting an atmospheric tone and giving visitors the chance to soak up the excitement before the racing gets underway.

Spectator‑friendly racing in the heart of Ramsey

A key appeal of the British Enduro Championship on the Isle of Man is how accessible it is for spectators and how closely it is woven into the town of Ramsey.

A popular viewing point is Ballagarraghyn, a well‑known sand test where many local riders train. It offers an excellent opportunity to see elite enduro riding up close and also serves as a service area, with refreshments and facilities on site.

As the racing unfolds, riders return to Mooragh Promenade, where spectators can watch teams working against the clock during service stops before the next stage of action. Throughout the weekend, Ramsey’s cafés, pubs and restaurants welcome riders and visitors alike, creating a lively, sociable atmosphere. Evening prize presentations bring everyone together and reflect the friendly, community‑focused spirit of Isle of Man motorsport.

Make a weekend of it

Typically taking place during the summer, the British Enduro Championship is an ideal excuse for a short break or longer stay on the Isle of Man. With beaches, coastal walks, heritage attractions and great food all close by, Ramsey makes a fantastic base for exploring the north of the Island, from sandy bays and scenic promenades to quiet country roads and dramatic coastline.

For those inspired to return, off‑road motorsport continues later in the year with the Circuit of Mann  — another event organised by Ramsey Motorcycle Club that attracts adventure bikes, classic machines and sidecar teams, offering a very different but equally memorable experience.

Travel to the Island is easy with the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, offering a convenient way to travel by sea with space for your vehicle, so you can explore the Island at your own pace. Whether you’re planning a motorsport‑led getaway or simply looking to experience something a little different, the ACU British Enduro Championship is a great way to discover the Isle of Man’s motorsport predigree, beyond the TT.
