Visit the Curraghs Wildlife Park

Curraghs Wildlife Park is a must-visit for families, especially those with young children. Located in Ballaugh, the park is home to a variety of animals from all over the world, including red pandas, meerkats, wallabies, and lemurs. The park’s walk-through enclosures allow visitors to get up close to some of the animals, making for an immersive experience. There are also well-equipped play areas, a wetlands nature trail, and a picnic area where families can relax and enjoy lunch. Regular talks and feeding sessions provide an opportunity to learn more about the animals and their habitats, ensuring a fun and educational day out for everyone.

Visit the Venture Centre

The Venture Centre in Maughold, just outside Ramsey in the north of the Island, has a wide range of activities on offer, including abseiling, archery, paddle sports, raft building, assault course, coasteering, and gorge walking. Founded in 1981, the centre offers special family day packages – half-day and full-day (with lunch) options – and you can create your own menu of activities, tailoring the day to suit your family. You can also stay overnight on site, with rooms sleeping between one and eight people - usually on a bed and breakfast basis, but self-catering and full board options are available.

Minimum age – varies depending on activity.

Visit the Manx Museum

For a warm and engaging indoor activity, visit the Manx Museum in Douglas. It’s a perfect way to introduce kids to the fascinating history of the Isle of Man, from the island’s Viking past to its famous TT races. There are interactive exhibits, plenty of artifacts to explore, and best of all, admission is free!

Go on a Steam Train Adventure

The Isle of Man Steam Railway may not be in full service during the winter, but special heritage events and depot open days often take place in the off-season. Check the schedule and, if available, hop aboard for a unique journey through the countryside. It’s a fun and nostalgic experience for both kids and adults.
