Isle of Man Youth Cycling Tour powered by Steam Packet Holidays

Today marks the start of the 2025 Steam Packet Holidays Isle of Man Youth Tour. 

The three-day event runs across the bank holiday weekend and sees hundreds of potential future stars of the sports take part in a packed programme of races making the most of the Isle of Man’s challenging terrain.

The organisers of the event go to great efforts to try to give the young cyclists an experience as close to the professional world as possible, including closed roads and motorcycle outriders – keeping the three-day competition one of the most popular and prestigious on the youth cycling calendar.

Steam Packet Holidays are proud to continue their support for the Youth Cycling Tour by organising travel and accommodation for the officials required for such a complex event. SPH also organise travel and accommodation packages for the competitors and their supporters with special package rates for the event.

A quick look at the previous winners and competitors gives a good measure of the importance of the event to professional cycling in the UK and beyond. As well as prominent Manx cyclists such as Mark Cavendish, Peter Kennaugh, Lizzie Holden and Anna Christian, other big names to have ridden include Tao Geoghegan Hart (currently Lidl-Trek), Tom Pidcock (Q36.5 pro Cycling), Simon Yates (Visma-Lease a Bike) and Hannah Barnes (Uno-X Mobility) to name but a few.

The first round of this year’s tour will consist of a time trial event on Douglas Promenade on Friday evening.

Saturday sees competitors take on the classic, Ellerslie road circuit with numerous road closures planned in and around the Foxdale and Braaid areas between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

Sunday sees the action head north to Jurby for the concluding road races.

The winners of individual categories will receive IOMSPC vouchers along with their other prizes and awards.
