The Third Engineer is responsible to the Chief Engineer Officer for engineering maintenance and watchkeeping duties.

He must be fully conversant with the safe and efficient operation of ships machinery. firefighting and safety equipment.

In the absence of the Second Engineer, the Third Engineer shall assume responsibility for bunkering operations, under the overall direction of the Chief Engineer:

He must advise the Chief Engineer immediately of any defect which may affect the safety or efficient operation of the ship.

Responsible for maintenance of equipment and control of spares and consumables as assigned to them in the C/E's Standing Orders.

Skills and Qualifications 

• ·         STCW, including medical first aid

  ·         Fast rescue boat

  ·         UK right to work
