Mo Bros and Sisters unite. Isle of Man Steam Packet Company get involved in Movember

Men’s health is in crisis and Movember is uniquely placed to address this challenge on a global scale. From its humble beginnings in Australia in 2003, Movember has grown to a worldwide movement of millions of fundraisers, all in aid of tackling three of the biggest health issues affecting men; mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.  As a result, men are living healthier, longer lives.

This year at the Steam Packet Company our team of Mo Brothers and Mo Sisters are once again getting stuck into Movember and taking our fundraising efforts to the next level with a number of testing challenges:

  • Move for Mental Health – As a team we’re running, swimming, cycling or walking a distance of 334 miles. This is the collective distance our vessels travel to each of our ports; Heysham, Liverpool, Belfast and Dublin.
  • Grow for Mo – “Growing a Mo is like wearing a symbol representing healthier men and a healthier world, all Movember long.” We have many of our employees growing ‘taches for Movember.
  • Movember Bake off – We’re holding an internal bake sale.
  • Special Guests – we also have some of our Sporting friends helping us out this year;

Tom Mazzone and Conor Cummins are joining us on a group cycle ride to contribute to our move goal. Of course, Tom Mazzone will be leading this ride.

Vagabonds Ladies team are also contributing to our move goal, hosting a Ballathon, – challenging themselves to throw a rugby ball to each other as they complete the length of the Douglas promenade and back (3.5 miles).

 Vagabonds Men’s team are also growing for Movember, so keep an eye out for their fabulous taches.

We have a lot going on this Movember and would appreciate your help in raising money for an amazing cause.
