On 14th June 2026, Ben-My-Chree entered dry dock at Cammell Laird as part of a planned programme of maintenance and refurbishment, ahead of her return to service on the Larne route later this month.
A familiar and dependable presence, Ben-My-Chree plays a key role in maintaining connectivity for passengers and freight customers across the Irish Sea. This scheduled period out of service ensures the vessel continues to meet the high standards our customers expect, both now and into the future.
Supporting our Route network and Connectivity
The Larne route is an essential corridor for trade, travel and connectivity with the Island. Ben-My-Chree’s role on this service makes her a cornerstone of effective, year-round operations, helping to keep people and goods moving.
By undertaking this work, we are strengthening our ability to operate our routes effectively and ensuring the vessel is fully prepared to continue delivering a dependable service when she returns in late July.
Scope of Works
During her time in dry dock, Ben-My-Chree has undergone a comprehensive programme of work covering both technical maintenance and onboard improvements.
On the technical side, this includes detailed inspections, servicing, and essential maintenance to ensure all systems continue to operate safely and efficiently. Vital control systems onboard have been upgraded, bringing these systems into line with the latest technology.
The vessel paintwork has been refreshed, including the underwater anti foul paint, along with polishing of the ships propellors which ensures the vessel operates efficiently.
Alongside this, the vessel’s interior spaces have been completely refurbished to enhance the onboard experience. This includes updates to passenger areas designed to improve comfort and the overall travel experience with improved seating including reclining seats with USB sockets. A new dedicated family lounge and executive lounge has been created on deck 7. The aim is to ensure that customers continue to enjoy a welcoming and well-maintained space throughout their journey.

All work has been carried out in line with stringent industry standards and under the supervision of regulators, ensuring the highest levels of quality and safety throughout.
Investing in Quality and Reliability
This planned dry docking reflects our ongoing commitment to investing in the quality and longevity of our fleet. By taking a proactive approach to maintenance and refurbishment, we are ensuring that our vessels deliver a reliable, efficient and dependable service for all our customers.

Looking Ahead
Ben-my-Chree is due to return to service this week, covering Manxman’s Heysham sailings while the flagship undergoes scheduled dry dock maintenance.
Following this, Ben-my-Chree will begin operations on the Larne route in late July, ready to continue supporting this important connection.
This work is just one example of the Company’s ongoing investment behind the scenes, ensuring that every sailing meets the expectations of those who rely on our services.
We look forward to welcoming passengers back on board Ben-My-Chree soon.
