14/4/2014

Visitors to the Curraghs Wildlife Park during the last weekend of the Easter school holidays will be able to enjoy stunning falconry displays, supported by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company.

The Ballaugh attraction is welcoming back Phil Gibbons on April 26th and 27th, and the Steam Packet Company is helping out by assisting with Phil’s travel to the Island with his birds.

Phil, one of the UK’s best falconers, will be at the park with up to a dozen birds throughout the weekend, meeting visitors, answering questions, displaying birds of prey and hosting flying demonstrations at 1pm and 3pm on each day.

On previous visits to the Island Phil has brought Barn Owls, Harris Hawks, Peregrine Falcons.

Curraghs Wildlife Park General Manager Kathleen Graham said: ‘Phil’s visits are always popular, as well as entertaining and informative. It is a chance not only to see these wonderful birds, but to learn about them and the skills of falconry.

‘I’d like to thank the Steam Packet Company for assisting with Phil’s trip and hope there will be lots of people at the Wildlife Park over the Easter Weekend to enjoy the displays and flying demonstrations.’

Steam Packet Chief Executive Mark Woodward said: ‘We are always delighted to work with our friends at the Wildlife Park, and I’m really pleased we have been able to play our part in ensuring visitors over the Easter Weekend have the opportunity to see and learn about these magnificent birds, and enjoy Phil’s great skills as a falconer .’
