MV Arrow to Transport Additional Freight

26/11/2021

The MV Arrow will return to operation in the Irish Sea this weekend to provide an overnight freight service to the Island.

She will sail from Heysham to Douglas in the early hours of Sunday morning (November 28) to assist with freight demand.

The need for additional freight capacity has been prompted by adverse weather which is expected to disrupt sailings this weekend. Today’s (Friday) Ben-my-Chree sailings to Heysham were cancelled for the same reason.

Steam Packet Company Managing Director Brian Thomson said: ‘MV Arrow has been kept ready for use for precisely this reason, ensuring we are able to meet our ongoing commitment to transport essential food and goods to the Island community as and when the need arises.

‘With the adverse weather forecast for this weekend, this again underlines the importance of having resilience in the fleet to meet the unique demands of the Isle of Man’s sea services.’

Her re-deployment for freight will also release more car deck spaces for our passengers affected by the weather disruption once ceded.
