STANDARD TO BE DEDICATED TO MERCHANT MARINE SERVICES

3/12/2012

A Standard has been commissioned to represent the Isle of Man’s Merchant Marine Services at the Royal British Legion’s Annual Remembrance Day Service and other service association events.

For a number of years, the Merchant Marine Services has been represented on Remembrance Day and at other events by retired Steam Packet Company Master, Captain Allan Bridson, and Captain Kane Taha, the Company’s current Marine Manager.

Captain Bridson is the driving force behind the new Standard which will be dedicated early in 2013 and will be paraded at events on behalf of the Steam Packet Company by cadets of the training ship, Manxman, the Isle of Man Sea Cadet Unit.

Steam Packet Company Chief Executive Mark Woodward said: ‘Captain Bridson and Captain Taha have been proud to represent the Merchant Marine Services over the years, and we were more than happy to commission the making of a Standard, which was delivered by Porters of Merseyside.

‘We’re delighted that the Standard will be paraded by cadets from Manxman at future Remembrance Day services and other events.’
