THE ISLE OF MAN STEAM PACKET COMPANY CONTINUES HIGH CAPACITY LIFELINE SERVICES TO AND FROM THE ISLE OF MAN

5/5/2010

With volcanic ash once again causing disruption to air passengers, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company is operating Manannan on Wednesday’s Liverpool sailings instead of Snaefell.

The Company has seen passenger numbers for these sailings increase steadily during the day. Bringing Manannan into service has increased passenger capacity for those wishing to travel to and from the Island today.

Chief Executive Mark Woodward said: “With Snaefell nearing capacity on today’s 1530 sailing, in the interests of passenger comfort we have taken the decision to operate Manannan instead. This will also provide the reassurance to passengers wishing to travel on that sailing or the return sailing to the Island at 1930 that the Steam Packet Company has increased its passenger carrying capacity at this time of higher demand. I am pleased that Manannan has once again been able to step in to provide a reliable high capacity service to Island residents and visitors.”
