THIS MORNING’S LIVERPOOL SERVICE DIVERTED TO HEYSHAM

13/6/2008

This morning’s (Friday) 07.30 sailing to Liverpool is being diverted to Heysham, with the return 11.15 Liverpool to Douglas service now operating from Heysham at 12.15.

These are the same arrangements that were in place for the Viking’s Liverpool schedule for yesterday (Thursday) morning.

Yesterday’s diversion was necessary because the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company had been advised by Mersey Docks and Harbour Company that planned maintenance for the Liverpool Landing Stage had taken longer than expected to complete.

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company was advised yesterday (Thursday) afternoon by Mersey Docks and Harbour Company that the maintenance work had been completed and its 17.45 sailing to Liverpool could go ahead as scheduled.

However, when Viking arrived on time in Liverpool at 20.15, the vessel was unable to berth properly and initially the vehicles could not be discharged. A temporary solution was found and the vehicles were able to leave the vessel, although later than scheduled. The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company is liaising with Mersey Docks and Harbour to rectify the problem as soon as possible.

However, as there is no guarantee that the maintenance work will be completed in time for this morning’s 07.30 Liverpool service, the decision has been taken to divert the sailing to Heysham.

Coach transfers between Liverpool and Heysham for foot passengers will be arranged in both directions.

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company sincerely apologises to all passengers affected by the diversions.
