STEAM PACKET COMPANY HELPS TAKE GAIETY AUDIENCES BACK TO THE 80s

8/10/2018

A pop culture trip down memory lane awaits audiences at the Gaiety Theatre next week with support from the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company.

Centre Stage Productions is presenting its debut show, Back To The 80s, from 13th to 20th October in association with the Manx G&S Society.

It tells the story of Corey Palmer and his senior year of high school: his best friends, the class bully, and the girl he loves.

The production is a non-stop collection of music with a soundtrack of massive 80s hits including ‘Footloose’, ‘Video Killed the Radio Star’, ‘Love Shack’ and ‘Walking on Sunshine’ featuring songs from the likes of Wham, Michael Jackson, Madonna and Rick Astley.

One of the choreographers from Centre Stage Productions, Gem Last, said: ‘This is a musical that audiences of all ages can enjoy. It’s high energy mixed with contemporary flair and we have a great cast ready to take you through the greatest hits of the decade.

‘We are hugely grateful to the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company for assisting with the costs of bringing over the large amount of staging and scenery which is required to put on a production of this size.’

Steam Packet Company Chief Executive Mark Woodward added: ‘We are very fortunate in the Isle of Man to enjoy some wonderful productions staged by hard-working local societies. The Steam Packet Company is always pleased to be able to help support these performances when it can to ensure Manx audiences enjoy a diverse range of entertainment.’

Tickets are available from www.villagaiety.com and prices start from £19.
