Blackpool marina

Sail with us to Heysham, and experience the diversity of the bright lights of Blackpool, the short drive to bustling Manchester, and the breathtaking landscapes of the Lake District and beyond. The great road networks from Heysham port offers travellers a smooth journey on to destinations further afield to the north and south. It is perfectly located just outside of Lancaster to allow you to explore Lancashire and surrounding areas.

  1. Walk along the beautiful beaches in Morecambe
  2. Discover Blackpool Pleasure Beach
  3. Go ballroom dancing in Blackpool
  4. Visit The Freeport shopping centre at Fleetwood
  5. Climb England’s highest mountain in the Lake District

Morecambe Bay is one of the best places in the UK for adrenalin junkies. From sailing, to powered paragliding, parachuting, windsurfing, mountain biking, horseriding and kitesurfing, it has it all. With all the adrenalin, it is no surprise Morecambe is the hometown of current top TT rider John McGuinness.

When you’re not tackling the beach, the headland offers spectacular seascape views, whilst the adventurous amongst you can enjoy a guided walk across the tidal sands taking in the great views towards the Lake District and Bowland Fells.

One of the world’s most famous icons, Blackpool Tower, and one of Europe’s most famous light displays, the Blackpool Illuminations, form part of a unique entertainment complex, Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

Blackpool is the world’s home of ballroom dancing. Visit shows and events as well as enjoying a dance yourself. Step into the beautifully restored Grade 2 listed Winter Gardens and stroll along the Victorian Floral Hall.

For sport lovers, there’s even an 18-hole golf course next to the park designed by the same golf course designer who designed Augusta National, home of the US Masters. Blackpool is also one of the UK’s cycling towns and has fleets of bikes available to hire. Or bring your bicycle over on the ferry with you; it’s free of charge.

This stunning Cumbrian landscape includes England’s five tallest mountains and deepest lakes, two national parks, three areas of outstanding natural beauty and a wealth of flora and fauna. It offers the perfect holiday destination for any time of the year.

For those who want a more active holiday; Derwentwater is great for canoeing, Coniston is ideal for windsurfing, and Haverigg is a popular location for wakeboarding.

If you want to explore the lakes, like Ullswater and the famous Windermere, why not take a cruise or hire a rowing boat on Derwentwater and venture over to St Herbert’s island.

After that, you can rummage through arts and crafts shops in little villages dotted along the way, enjoy an afternoon tea or tuck into fish and chips at Whitehaven Marina

Less than an hour’s drive away is the popular Freeport shopping outlet at Fleetwood. You can take your car on board the ferry and fill your boot with all your shopping on your return.
