The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company operate ferry services between the Isle of Man and Heysham (Lancashire, England), Liverpool (Merseyside, England), Belfast (Northern Ireland) and Dublin (Republic of Ireland).

Ferry services from England to the Isle of Man


Services to England are operated by the company flagship, the Ben-my-Chree, which carries both freight and regular car and passenger traffic between the Island and England. Services operate twice daily throughout the year, with a crossing time of 3 hours 30 minutes.

We also operate a regular fast craft service between the Isle of Man and our second English port, which is Liverpool in Merseyside.

Our port at Pier Head in the centre of the 2008 Capital of Culture, is set against the back drop of the world famous Liver Buildings and is just a stones throw to the main shopping district.

Services to Liverpool city centre operate throughout most of the year, with a slightly reduced winter timetable.

Ferries between Ireland and the Isle of Man


In addition to our services to England, we also operate seasonal fast ferry services to Belfast (Northern Ireland) and Dublin (Republic of Ireland).

Both services operate approximately twice weekly in the peak summer period, making the crossing from the Isle of Man to each port in around 2 hours 45 minutes.

Ferry space opened for the 2008 Manx Grand Prix


Manx Grand Prix enthusiasts can book now for the 2008 event.

The Steam Packet Company are taking deposit only bookings for the race festival. Space is held on a deposit only basis at present with a motorbike / car deposit being £20/€30 and £10/€14 for a foot passenger.

In 2008, we will be operating fast ferry and conventional ferry services to the Isle of Man from Heysham, Liverpool, Belfast and Dublin.

Booking instructions for the 2008 Manx Grand Prix


Welcome to our quick and easy online Booking Guide, Terms and Conditions for the 2008 Manx Grand Prix.


Please read all the information and scroll to the bottom of this screen to proceed with booking.

At the end of this section click the BOOK NOW button to make your 2008 Manx Grand Prix Deposit Booking.

Click Journey Type: Return

Please select your departure route to the Isle of Man e.g. Heysham>Isle of Man. Note that the festival runs from Saturday 16th August - Friday 29th August, 2008. Please continue your booking by selecting your return journey, the number of passengers, the currency you wish to pay in, vehicle type / foot passenger and finally if you are carrying a trailer attached to your vehicle.

Note: This is a non-refundable deposit only bookingon which the charge will be £20/€30 for ANY vehicle type and £10/€14 for foot passenger travel. You will be notified of your confirmed sailing times and total fare by April 30th, 2008. Your remaining balance must be received by June 30th, 2008. If this is not received, then your booking will be cancelled and you will forfeit your non-refundable deposit.

Once these details have been entered, please click the search for sailings icon.

You will then be given a number of options with your outward journey on the left hand side of the screen and return journey on the right hand side. Click which option best suits your requirements. As this is a provisional timetable we cannot guarantee that this will be the exact sailing time (or port of departure) due to craft availability, but we will do our utmost to minimise disruption.

You may also want to add extras to your trip. As the Manx Grand Prix will be busy as ever, why not reserve seats in advance or treat yourself to a 1st upgrade? Details of our upgrades are available by clicking on choose outward reserved seating.

Then simply click on the proceed to book icon.

Next, you will be shown a booking summary to date. Please check these are correct and fill in your passenger details.

You will then be directed to our payment page, where we will require your billing details. Again, please note that this is a non-refundable deposit only booking on which the charge will be £20/€30 for ANY vehicle type and £10/€14 for foot passenger travel. You will be notified of your confirmed sailing times and total fare by April 30th, 2008. Your remaining balance must be received by June 30th, 2008. If payment is not received, then your booking will be cancelled and you will forfeit your non-refundable deposit. Please note that credit cards carry a £3/€4 surcharge. Please use a debit card to avoid this payment. Once you have completed all relevant details, please click on the proceed icon.

You will then be given a final chance to review your sailing, passenger and billing details. If you are happy with your booking, check our Terms and Conditions (not forgetting to tick the box!) and proceed to obtain your confirmation of your deposit by clicking on the confirm icon. You will then be emailed the confirmation of your non-refundable deposit booking. However, we request that you print the non-refundable deposit confirmation immediately and draw your attention to your Booking Reference which will be our guide if there are any queries at a later point with your 2008 Manx Grand Prix Deposit Booking.

Non-refundable deposit confirmations are not valid for travel until the full standard fare has been paid.

Sailing times

We cannot guarantee that this will be the exact sailing time due to vessel availability, but we will do our utmost to minimise disruption.

Ports of departure

We cannot guarantee that the port of departure will be the same due to vessel availability and slot times.

These are also subject to the Company's general Terms and Conditions and also Conditions of Carriage. In the event of a conflict between the Company's general Terms and Conditions and the 2008 Manx Grand Prix non-refundable deposit booking Terms and Conditions, the 2008 Manx Grand Prix non-refundable deposit booking Terms and Conditions will apply.
