The Ben-my-Chree will undergo its compulsory biennial overhaul and dry-docking between April 1st and April 14th.
The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has chartered the freight vessel Triumph to cover the Ben-my-Chree’s Heysham freight duties during this overhaul period. Built in 1997, Triumph (ex Lehola) is 122 metres long. She has 1100 lane metres capacity, and has already arrived from the Channel Islands. The Fast Craft Viking will provide passenger services to both Heysham and Liverpool during the short overhaul period.
The Company has made steps to contact all passengers whose sailings are affected by the overhaul, and consequently there is no need for passengers to contact the Company.
Chief Executive Mark Woodward explained: “It is very important to undertake this essential maintenance work before the busy summer season commences.
“The Ben-my-Chree’s overhaul period inevitably leads to some disruption to services every two years. However, we have taken steps to ensure the number of people affected is kept to a minimum.”
